Our Pilates Classes are open to all levels, from complete beginners who have never tried Pilates before to more experienced practitioners. You are welcome to join us!
We offer small-group Pilates classes, for up to 5 participants. This ensures that the instructor can closely monitor each individual’s technique, adapt the exercises where necessary and provide specific feedback.
The classes are effective, fun and friendly – but most of all you’ll soon see improvements in your core and overall strength, posture, balance, flexibility and co-ordination. You might even drop a few lbs and lose fat… you’ll certainly tone up!
Deborah and Denise, our Pilates instructors, are Chartered Physiotherapists with experience in the understanding of how the body works. They will therefore be willing to modify exercises to suit your individual needs, expectations and ability level.
Our Pilates classes run Tuesday to Saturday, in the morning and in the evening.
Can’t wait to start? Please contact us today for more information and booking the time slots you prefer. We’ll be happy to answer any questions you might have!
You can find our Pilates Studio at the Douglas Chiro & Physio Clinic: Endsleigh Lodge, Douglas Road, Cork. Car parking is available on site and the bus stops to/from Cork city centre (207, 216, 220 and 223) are two steps away!
The classes run in 6-week blocks – €90 for the 6 classes.
Regular practice of Pilates can:
- Alleviate pain and discomfort
- Tone and strengthen muscles
- Increase flexibility and agility
- Improve posture and balance
- Enhance mobility, energy and stamina
- Aid relaxation and reduce stress and tension
- Promote resistance to injury
The exercises are usually done in a specific order, one right after another. Some of the movements have names, like Criss-Cross, the Mermaid, the Swan…
The moves may look simple, but they take a lot of precision and control; there’s a strong emphasis on technique.
Pilates can be demanding, but it’s not the kind of workout that always works up a sweat. Clinical research has confirmed Pilates exercises are beneficial in the prevention of back pain. The main objective is to make you more flexible, improve your posture and increase your muscle strength and tone. It’s all about concentration and breathing, but you’ll definitely feel it in your muscles.
